“Violet” was the dam of our first homebred Silverwood (1976)winner, Can/Am Ch Magor the Marquis ROM.  She was royally bred being by Ch Abraxas Audacity ex Maerdy Mona (Bar Sinister daughter). We count ourselves lucky to have gotten her from Bill. She was impeccably made with what Raymond Oppenheimer used to refer to as “a Frosty front”. Her temperament was divine and she was a superb mother.

“Sally” was another treasure we were lucky to have imported from Bill Morgan in Wales in the late seventies. She was a daughter of the great Ch Maerdy Maestro of Ormandy and an absolute study in make and shape with a wonderful head for the time (bearing in mind this photo was taken in the late ‘70’s). When mated to Van Don’s Silver Chancelor, Sally produced Can/Am Ch Magor Midas Touch ROM, an important dog in our tale male line.

“Maddie” was by Caesar out of a Jackfrost daughter. An incredibly typey bitch with wonderful expression. When bred to Lucky Break, a great grandson of Caesar,  she produced Ch Magor Turning Point, making her MVP’s grandma. Her litter by Ch Emred Top Gun ROM produced the beautiful Am Ch Magor Moonlight ‘n Roses, Runner Up 1992 Bronze Trophy Winner (pictured on the Additional photos page), and Silverwood finalist Am Ch Magor Son of a Gun.

 

She was bred in partnership with our good friend, the late Percy Hailstone.

“Henda” was a treasure and quite literally the “goose that laid the golden eggs”. In her first litter to Can/Am Ch Emred Top Gun ROM she produced, Matinee Idol (Silverwood winner 1992). Maggie Mae (Lovell Trophy winner for Runner up to Matinee Idol in1992), and Ch Magor Must Be Magic, foundation bitch for Linda Woodruff’s Edelwin bullies.

 

Henda was by Caesar and out of a daughter of Moonlight’s dam by Booksale Beau Brummel (Jackadandy).

 

Henda won the 1992 Eva Weatherill Brood Bitch Trophy.

 

She too was co-bred with friend, Percy Hailstone.

Girls (early days)

The key to any breeder’s success is in obtaining the very best bitches one can get.  We were fortunate to have founded our line on first class bitches courtesy of the most generous and humble man we have every known, Bill Morgan (Maerdy prefix) of Wales. We also imported our first stud dog from Bill; Can/Am Ch Maerdy Moonstone (by River Pirate ex a Bar Sinister daughter).  Moonstone sired the 1973 Silverwood winner, Can/Am Paupen’s Mr Wiggins ROM who in turn sired the 1979 Silverwood winner, Am Ch Ann Dee’s Red Adair ROM.
